New Age Delusions about "Love"
Spirituality as escapism
The greatest cop out of all.
Let me get straight to the point here. At this moment as I type these words, I could scream. Pissed off? I have not even started. My pissed has never been so off.
I have just had a deeply distressed grandmother on the phone who had, a few minutes earlier, heard the latest description from her little five year old grandson about what happened to him at a pre-school centre day after day for nine months. See related article.
Or rather, don't. If you are one of the expressions of New Age "love", it might be too much for you. We must be positive, you see. Telling people what is going on is "bad karma". Oh dear.
So instead, don't find out what is really going on in the world. Don't find out what is happening to millions of children every DAY all over the planet. And for goodness sake, don't get off your arse and try to do something about it.
To do so would be spreading negativity. Oh my God.
So if you are from that particular brand of New Age "love", please immediately light a candle, sit in a circle with like "thinkers", and send out positive vibes. Then the millions of children tomorrow will no longer be abused horrifically in their day care centres.
There, sorted it. Now what else can I do with the rest of my life?
I am just about up to here and overflowing with the claptrap I hear from people who are hiding behind "love" and using "spirituality" as an excuse to do nothing that might be the least bit challenging. Why go into areas that are not very nice when there are candle stores in every town?
These New Age self-deniers talk about "love." What is love to this mentality? It is denying what is really going on, denying the suffering of others because they can't face that reality, and it is hiding their own inner bullshit behind the veil of "we must be positive."
Is it negative to identify a cancer so it can be healed? Or is it more positive to deny that cancer exists until it is too late and too far advanced for any healing to be effective?
In a sentence you have the stark reality of what New Age denial is doing to this world. It is denying the cancer and therefore delaying the very healing it says is necessary. And in doing so, it is condemning yet more children tomorrow, next week, to suffer the consequences of the very cancer it seeks to ignore and close it's eyes to.
Talk about Eyes Wide Shut.
Of course we need to project the energy of love, but love is not just a song by Celine Dion. It is dedicating ourselves to exposing what must be exposed and must be faced if we are to heal this three-dimensional illusion we live in. It is going into areas we would rather not think about, spending our days dealing with information we would rather not see, and it is doing what is necessary, no matter if we would rather walk away, and many of us would many times. It is doing all we can to ensure that what prospers through secrecy is blinded by the light of public recognition.
See it, heal it, change it.
I am not for a moment seeking to undermine the importance of focussing ourselves on the need for love in it's true sense. But love is not denial. It is not averting our eyes because we would rather not see.
And I am sick of such bullshit. Sorry if I appear pissed off. It is because I am.
I feel better now.
Love,
