Greyhound bus crashes in Tennessee. Note how there is an alleged attacker with a passport from Croatia. Very convenient wouldn't you say? Another problem, another reaction. Another solution...

N A S H V I L L E, Tenn., Oct. 3 Six people died in a crash and Greyhound suspended all bus service in the United States for several hours this morning after a passenger on the bus attacked the driver on a highway in Tennessee, officials said.

The company resumed full service at 1 p.m. ET, after consulting with federal and local law enforcement. "We have concluded it is safe to resume service for our customers," company president Craig Lentzsch said at a news conference.

The driver was treated for a cut to his neck and was stable after surgery, a hospital official said. The man told doctors the attacker moved quickly, slashed his throat with what appeared to be a box cutter, grabbed the wheel and crashed the bus.

The Atlanta-bound bus crashed around 4 a.m. near Manchester, Tenn., about 65 miles outside of Nashville. It swerved at least four times carrying its 38 passengers and driver across the highway's grassy median before turning over.

"The bus driver was assaulted and [it] resulted in an accident," said Manchester Police spokesman Steve Deford.

The attacker, who died in the wreck, and is identified as 29-year-old Damir Igric, is alleged to have carried a Croation passport. The attack did not appear to be terrorist-related, U.S. Department of Justice officials said today.

Passenger Carly Rinearson told local television station WTVF that a man aboard the bus had slit the driver's throat, sending it veering out of control. Local officials, however, declined to comment on the exact nature of the assault on the driver. U.S. Department of Justice spokeswoman Susan Dryden said the alleged assailant had a Croatian passport. He apparently was killed in incident.
