Hostages of the bases

Foreign Minister - Echelon - British Bases

Nicosia, Feb 26 (Cyprus News Agency) - Foreign Minister, Ioannis Kasoulides, said today that Cyprus would do everything possible to safeguard the right to privacy and would support European Union actions towards this end.

Commenting on a report by British journalist, Duncan Campbell, that the British Bases in Cyprus were being used for espionage through the Echelon system, Kasoulides said the government would not question the Bases on the island, but would complain {{yea, that would save us}} if it realised that Britain, which is considered to be a friendly country {{can you believe this?!}}, was proved to be spying against the Republic, although it has assured it was not. {{oh good}}

How the English-Americans trap in their tentacles the Cyprus National Guard and turn Cyprus into a den of military espionage

By Yiannos Charalambides

Cyprus is trapped into the tentacles of military espionage and is a hostage of the British RAF bases. Reliable information of this newspaper, coming from military personnel and experts on the subjects of military intelligence, strategy and modern technology, report that the terrestrial satellite station, located in Ayios Nicholaos in Famagusta, is begin used for military purposes. The machinery and the high technology the English-Americans have inside the bases have the ability to spy on the Cyprus National Guard through all levels and act with great success in electronic war.

Of course, the technology London and Washington have in Cyprus, gives them the facility of conducting military espionage in a worldwide scale. As valid military sources emphasized to "I Simerini", the Bases in Cyprus, in combination with a corresponding terrestrial satellite station in Australia, controlled the launches of the Iraqi "Scout" missiles, and directed the American F-115 to their targets. The same thing happened in the most recent operations against Iraq, just before the war in Kosovo, Yugoslavia.

With statements to our newspaper connected to the above, the auxiliary professor of International Relations Marios Eyribiadis, reported that Cyprus' ionosphere, together with those of North Australia and a complex of islands in the Pacific Ocean, are the three most suitable ones for the transmission of electromagnetic waves. That is why, he added, from the era of the Cold War, the English-Americans had installed several control and information-gathering systems in Cyprus. Among them is the "over dehorizon", through which they could control the several tele-messages and nuclear tests in a wider area, that covered the entire Soviet Union. On the same time, says Mr. Eyribiadis, U-2 spy planes used to take off from the bases in Cyprus, after a verbal contract between Archbishop Makarios - Gromico - Kissinger in 1974 {{The year of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus that split the island in two, which was also provoked by the Americans, the British, who were in possession of the island until the year 1960, and the junta in Greece, which was a also puppet of the English-Americans, together with Turkey.}}, under the pretence of supervision of the agreements on Sinai. Evidence on the subject, gathered by "I Simerini", testify that the modernized U-2 planes still take off from Cyprus as complementaries of the spy satellites, because of their ability to fly as high as 40 thousand feet and more, independently of weather conditions, take photographs of astounding clarity and to carry out any kind of electronic war. That means gather information, or even jam the enemy frequencies. According to Mr. Eyribiadis, all cold war systems have today been improved and, as the U-2, so are the rest spy machinery being used either on their own, or in combination with the satellites.

It is understandable, he stressed, that the English-Americans have the possibility and the means to control the National Guard, and it would be naive for someone to have the illusion that they don't already control it.
