Hi David,
Britain, has some of the strongest gun control legislation in the world.
Nobody is allowed to own a pistol - not even a small target .22. This
means, that no Brit, can now compete in international pistol shooting
competitions.
Laws only work on the law abiding though, and the only people who now use
guns in Britain, belong to the criminal underworld. The banning of guns,
has made no difference the use of guns in drug related crimes. The drug
dealers are still killing each other in their "turf wars" - and sadly
innocent people are getting in the way of the bullets. Since the
prohibition on hand guns, the number of incidents involving firearms,
has gone through the roof.
The total ban on hand guns for the general public, came about through two
mass killings. One outrage was at Hungerford, and the other more recent
event happened at Dunblane. In Hungerford, Michael Ryan went on a killing
spree, armed with an AK47. After that, automatic carbines were totally
banned. Then Thomas Hamilton at Dunblane, killed a lot of schoolchildren.
After that all handguns were banned - and the law abiding gun owners, had
to hand their firearms to in to the police.
Now Hungerford and Dunblane, are very similar small towns. One may be in
England, and the other in Scotland - but they could be twins. Both places
are very respectable, white, peaceful, and middle class - they are the
last places where you would expect events like this to occur.
Also the two killers, were very similar, as they were both loners, who did
not fit in to the normal pattern of British life. At the time of the
killings, they seemed to be in a trance before shooting themselves - and
they could well have been mind controlled. Very suspicious don't you
think? I am surprised that nobody has ever picked up on this.
Well! the ordinary law abiding citizen in Britain, no longer can own a
hand gun because of these terrible incidents. The police and the army,
still have their arsenals of weapons - but not the general public. Now
there may be a good case for banning all guns - but for everyone. If the
citizen, no longer has to right to possess a gun, then this should also
apply to the police and army.
Right now, if Britain was in danger from a enemy, then we would be
expected to find to defend the Queen Lizard's Realm. I now would refuse
to fight any enemy - but not for pacifist reasons. This is because, I
could not bring myself to fire a gun, that I would not be allowed to own
as a civilian.
So Americans beware, as you could be next.
All I have is a .22 air rifle - and it will not be long before they ban
those.
Yours in Light
