Another Austin Murder Cover-up

THE STORY OF BRIAN DENEKE

BRIAN DENEKE, a 19-year-old punk in Amarillo, Texas was killed. His killer (DUSTIN CAMP) ran him over in a 1983 Cadillac.

CAMP was tried, and found guilty - not of MURDER mind you - but of MANSLAUGHTER.

What was CAMP's punishment?

PROBATION. Ten years, and a fine that was supposed to be $10,000.

But get this. Even the $10,000 fine was probated. That means that he doesn't even have to pay that - unless his probation is revoked!

Dustin Camp has gotten off scott-free, for killing a young man - cutting him down, way before his prime.

The Deneke family is now pursuing a wrongful death civil lawsuit against CAMP. They definitely could use all the support that they can get, in regards to the upcoming trial, as well as the memorial committee that they have set up in memory of Brian.

We have created and posted flyers below to distribute electronically

People can then print out, photocopy, and distribute these flyers.

We could definitely use help distributing them.

From this point in time on, we also plan on including flyers, as well as literature about Brian Deneke, in all of our orders, to all of our customers.

It would be amazing if people who run records labels and magazines could also send these flyers out with all of their orders.

We also are proposing that people who run their own magazines and zines might be able to donate some advertising space, to place information about Brian's murder, and how people might be able to assist in supporting his family, and publicize his plight.

Also, please feel free to add your website to the webring that we have created. You can find out how to do that by clicking HERE.

Remember, the way that we punks do things, is DIY for the most part.

Do-It-Yourself.

Anything that YOU can do in YOUR community to draw attention to this tragedy, the more awareness we can raise of this.

This incident should not, cannot, and WILL NOT be ignored.

Please help to show the world that punk is a lot more than a "look".

Please help to show that a vivid, vital life was lost the day that Brian died.

In the global punk/DIY community, we (the members) all know that "punk" is much more than a mere "look". Its a lifestyle. A lifestyle with caring people, who can -and will- stand firm and organized when something completely horrible like this happens.

Can you think of a better way to make sure that people know beyond a doubt that this was a prejudicial murder - not only in the case of the prejudiced murderer, but also with the prejudiced justice system that let DUSTIN CAMP off with a mere slap on the hands?

Can you think of a better way to stand up to this prejudice against punks, and to show the world that we are caring, strong, directed, and focused people?

We can't think of a better way or reason to raise our voices, and we stand firm in our support and memory of Brian Deneke.

Because no matter how someone looks - be they "punk" or not - murder is MURDER.
