Heaviest Hurricane Season "Ever" Predicted...05/27/99

(MSNBC) Foremost forecaster sees 14 Atlantic storms over six months. The world’s foremost hurricane forecaster has never predicted more than 11 major Atlantic storms in one season — until this year. And he isn’t alone: The head of the U.S. National Hurricane Center has voiced a similar concern about more storms than usual ahead of the six-month season that starts June 1.

WILLIAM GRAY, a Colorado State University professor noted for his accuracy in forecasting hurricane frequency, predicts 14 storms strong enough to be named — five tropical storms and nine hurricanes, four of them major hurricanes with winds of at least 111 mph.

Jerry Jarrell, director of the U.S. National Hurricane Center, voiced a similar concern. “People have been saying for several years we may be heading back to a period like the ’40s and ’50s when we really had heavy hurricane seasons — a lot of major hurricanes,” he said. “I think it’s no longer speculation. I think we are in it now.”

The Mainstream Media Catches On, It's The Sun...06/04/99

By BBC News Online Science Editor Dr David Whitehouse

Global warming may not be caused by humanity's fossil fuel emissions, but could be due to changes in the Sun.

Research suggests that the magnetic flux from the Sun more than doubled this century. As solar magnetism is closely linked with sunspot activity and the strength of sunlight reaching Earth, the increase could have produced warming in the global climate.

The evidence for an increasingly energetic Sun comes from a new analysis of the magnetic field between the planets, carried out by scientists at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, near Oxford, UK.

Solar Wind

This magnetic field is caused by the Solar Wind, a stream of particles given off by the Sun which fills the solar system.

The scientists produce evidence that since 1964 the interplanetary magnetic field has increased in strength by 40%. Evidence from before the space age suggests that the magnetic field is 2.3 times stronger than it was in 1901.

Scientists do not doubt that the increased magnetic field results from a more energetic Sun. Their problem is that the effect of these increases on the Earth is unknown.

Not our fault?

The research is published in Nature and in the same journal Professor Eugene Parker, of the Laboratory for Astrophysics and Space Research, University of Chicago, comments that it could explain global warming. He notes that the increased solar activity has occurred in parallel with an increase in carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere. And it may not be a coincidence, he says. Professor Parker suggests that the Sun's increased activity caused the Earth's global temperature to rise and that in turn warmed the oceans.

Warmer oceans absorb less carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. So a warmer Earth has more of the so-called greenhouse gases. Humanity's burning of fossil fuels may therefore not be the cause of global warming.

As Change Escalates, The More We Will Need Each Other...05/31/99

During these times of wars and weather, we will need to rely on one another more than ever. There are many spiritual disciplines who describe this very idea, at this very time. Now, here is the ironic challenge...During these times of change is when we, as humans, will be most likely to act out. I now call it "the passage of change".

As a mental health therapist, I see this everyday. When a person starts to make changes in their life, even if it is positive and in their best interest, a high risk of self sabotage exist. Not only does each individual struggle with themselves, they are likely to receive resistance from family and friends. Sounds crazy and backwards? Yes, but true.

We as humans tend to like predictability and routine, of ourselves, as well as those around us. When change occurs in our lives, either direction, we put on the breaks and say "wait it a minute, this doesn't feel right". It is during these times, we will need to break it down into smaller pieces. Move slow, but always forward. Complacence is regression. As we become more familiar with our new environment (and self), we will be able to move into change more easily. Those who cannot or will not, make the changes needed, will be likely to experience shock and trauma. A typical profile of a person most likely to do poorly with change are those who try and control their environment. Also known as "control freaks". Those who need to know where everything is at all times. A need to make sure everything is in it's place. They live by a code of "the way things ought to be...this is how it is".

Those who appear to do best with change, are often those with some form of spiritual orientation. Able to be strong, but flow with change. Their external reality is less directing then their internal vision. This profile lives closer to the code of "we are all just kind of guessing". This person is more likely to encourage people to "follow your own truth, not mine". Often one's truth coincides with the other. Instead of "this is the way it is" they say "there is no one way". There are now several corporations who have caught on, and use this principle. Instead of trying to manipulate or force employees to work by his is how it is" they have shifted to empowering the employee and solicit their input into the decision making process. It is a huge success. (you can read more about this in my book " The Inverted Pyramid").

In what appears to be undeniable changes ahead in both weather (earth changes) and war, we will need to rely more on our intuition and our communities. There are many spiritual disciplines who say we are in times of enlightenment. It will be the passage of change, where one may suffer the most.

The Hopi's call it "The Great Purification".

I call it "The Transition". Blessings To All,

Devastating Explosion Occurred On The Sun, Tuesday (June 1st)
By BBC News Online Science Editor Dr David Whitehouse

A tremendous explosion took place on the surface of the Sun last Tuesday (June 1st) and for a few very nervous hours astronomers did not know whether it was heading for Earth.

The blast threw a jet of superheated plasma carrying magnetic energy into space at speeds of 1,000 kilometres per second (600 miles per second). However, using the speed of the Internet, astronomers around the world rapidly compared images and decided that a worldwide alert was unnecessary.

"Planet-buster"

The Solar and Heliospheric Observer (SOHO) satellite observed the solar explosion, which astronomers call a coronal mass ejection (CME).

The explosive event was "a real planet-buster", according to Dr Richard Fisher of Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Centre. If the magnetic energy within the cloud of super hot gas had interacted with the Earth's magnetic field it would have sparked spectacular aurora at polar latitudes.

But more worryingly it could also induce power blackouts, block radio communications and trigger phantom commands capable of sending satellites spinning out of their proper orbits. Cellular phones, global positioning signals and space-walking astronauts were all at risk.
