Dear Mr. Desborough,
Thank you for information which may enable us to remain independent thinkers. I am very interested in your information about the inner circle of LDS (Mormon) leaders who worship KOLOB. I have been a member all my life (my great grandparents joined and the family continued the tradition) but I have questioned beliefs in The Pearl of Great Price which refers to KOLOB and men becoming gods, polygamy, etc. that are not taught in the Book of Mormon. There is a website by Glenn Kimball called Ancient Manuscripts. I read his material and could surmise that he was a Mormon so I wrote and asked him if he was familiar with the Pearl of Great Price and he told me that he is a reinstated Mormon and has no problem with the authenticity of the book. I've always been a curious person who taught history and English in a Miami middle school until retirement a few years ago, but I have a problem with the beliefs taught in this book. When my husband who had been an inactive Mason for many years finally joined the church so we could marry in the Temple, he told me the ceremonies were very similar to Masonic ceremonies. I am now 68 years old (thank God my mind is still active) but I find it difficult to attend my church or even listen to beliefs of others, because I have become so distrustful.
If you have any information about the Mormon church which you feel comfortable sharing with me, I would greatly appreciate it. I have also corresponded with the Tanners of the Utah Lighthouse; they are former Mormons. He is a descendant of a Tanner who financed Joseph Smith and she is a descendant of Brigham Young. They publish truth about the Mormon church.
Most members of the church will not even read or listen to anything that they feel is a criticism of the church. They just dismiss it as an influence of Satan. When we lived in Miami near the ocean, my husband said that if the church told them to walk east and keep walking, they would. It puzzles me because many of them seem intelligent in other ways.
Sincerely,
