What is IDent-IDTM
http://www.orthoid.com/home.shtml
IDent-IDTM is the premier worldwide Internet database system
that can provide immediate identification of an individual from
anywhere on earth. It can also provide critical emergency
health/medical information. The IDent-IDTM program, previously
available only through dental offices, is now available directly
to the public.
A parent/care-giver accesses the IDent-IDTM database and
establishes a password file. The individual, at his/her
discretion, can also enter critical health/medical history or
have a physician enter this health/medical information. All data
on an individual can be updated easily from any location on
earth. The file is in a secure database and is password
protected. The database prevents duplication of codes. This code
can be placed on the individual by various methods (articles of
clothing, bracelet, key ring, in purse, billfold, school books,
dental appliance, etc.).
If an individual needs to be identified from anywhere in the
world, an appropriate agency (law enforcement, emergency health
care, forensic) can access the IDent-IDTM database with a
special password, enter the individual's code, and immediately
retrieve critical information about the individual.
There is a one-time fee of $15 for establishing an individual's
file in the database.
IDent-IDTM is a consideration for peace of mind.

What is Ortho-IDTM
http://www.orthoid.com/orthoid/about.shtml
Ortho-IDTM is a national and an international children's
identification process conceived to provide parents with peace
of mind in the event of an unidentified child. Ortho-IDTM is an
individualized identification system for children available
through dental offices. The process is simple, safe, effective
and efficient. The Ortho-IDTM program is the premier national
and international identification for children which utilizes the
Internet (over the World Wide Web), for immediate identification.
A permanent, personalized alphanumeric identification code
provided by the Ortho-IDTM database, via the Internet, will be
placed by one of the following methods:
Inscribed on the maxillary right first molar orthodontic band
that is cemented on a six year molar (this band remains in place
until completion of orthodontic treatment)
Inscribed on stainless crowns which are placed on deciduous
molars (these stainless steel crowns are lost when the deciduous
teeth are exfoliated)
Inscribed on an individually designed disc which is bonded on
the lower right six year molar (the disc remains until the
patient requests removal)
Retainer: If a patient has a pre-existing code on an orthodontic
band, the same code can be used for the retainer. If only a
retainer is to be encoded, a code will be provided for placement
in the retainer.
The patient information is retained in the Ortho-IDTM national
and international database. This database is Internet accessible
by law enforcement agencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The
database is password protected to safeguard your information,
and is fully Y2K compliant.
How will I be entered?
Prior to the appointment for the child's dental procedure, the
practitioner will contact the Ortho-IDTM database, via the
Internet, and register the patient using the practitioner's
secure database file. An alphanumeric code is issued from the
database and this code is inscribed on the appropriate dental
appliance. This code remains until the treatment is completed,
or until the patient requests the deletion of patient
registration.
Talk with your practitioner about this service. Ortho-IDTM
clearly is a consideration for peace of mind.
